Universal Health Scare #44: State of Oregon Denies Women Cancer Drug, Offers Euthanasia Instead
Got this from Ed Morrissey over at Hot air. This video is a little over a year old, but very relevant to today’s health care debate going on in this country.
Shane wrote about the state of Oregon offering euthanasia over cancer drug care in Universal Health Scare #28. Here is a first hand anecdotal look at the implications of that legislation…. it’s down right scary!
The doctor in this video who is defending the state’s position says it best, when he alludes to the notion that when you spend so much money on someone that may only live a few more months (though the drugs may prolong her life for years) that that money could go to other citizens that have other needs. In others words, she’s going to die anyways… why waste the money! This case illustrates that government funded health care in America would be no different than other nations that have experimented with these kinds of failed institutions, that individual liberty is always thrown under the bus, while government bureaucracies become arbiters of the value of life.
