Left Wing Anti-Americanism # 1: John Murtha: Traitor

OK – I’ll say it. John Murtha, congressman from Pennsylvania, is a traitor to his country. I know he’s a former Marine, but that only goes to shame him even more. Here we are in a battle against terrorists and Islamic fanatics, and he can’t resist the urge to slander and belittle our troops at every opportunity. Some examples of his insight, you ask?
“The war in Iraq is not going as advertised. It is a flawed policy wrapped in illusion. The American public is way ahead of us. The United States and coalition troops have done all they can in Iraq, but it is time for a change in direction. Our military is suffering. The future of our country is at risk. We can not continue on the present course. It is evident that continued military action in Iraq is not in the best interest of the United States of America, the Iraqi people or the Persian Gulf Region. ” ( November 17, 2005 )
“It’s much worse than reported in Time magazine. There was no fire fight. There was no IED that killed these innocent people. Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood. And that’s what the report is going to tell. Now, you can imagine the impact this is going to have on those troops for the rest of their lives and for the United States in our war and our effort in trying to win the hearts and minds.”( May 18, 2006 – concerning the Haditha incident )
Rebuttal.
But it might be that he has a superhero’s talent for seeing the future. Maybe he is so prescient that what he says must be heard. Maybe he isn’t just trying his best to inspire the jihadists. Remember Somalia? Osama sure does. It inspired him to kill three thousand Americans. Here’s the advice our illustrious congressman was offering about Somalia during the Clinton Administration:
“When I went to Somalia the first time, Mr. Speaker, my reservations remained the same. I told the new administration, when it came in, ‘We should get out of Somalia as quickly as possible,’ and in the middle of July Isaid, ‘Get our troops out because this could deteriorate into a very tragic situation.’…( November 9, 1993 on the Housefloor )
He is a fool. A damned fool.
I can’t be the only American seeing red when I read Murtha’s diatribes. He talks of the effect actions will have on our effort to win hearts and minds and he’s calling our troops ” cold blooded” killers to the applause of every head chopping insurgent world wide! A sitting member of congress calling our troops cold blooded killers – it doesn’t get more irresponsible than that.
Dissent is an American tradition. Giving aid and comfort to the enemy during wartime is not dissent. Congressman Murtha knows that those that kill and maim in Iraq have only one real weapon against us: media. In the treasure trove of documents found scattered around Zarqawi’s pulverized body, one translated page ( contained in the link above ) says ” The policy followed by the brothers in Baghdad is a media oriented policy without a clear comprehensive plan to capture an area or an enemy center. Other word, the significance of the strategy of their work is to show in the media that the American and the government do not control the situation and there is resistance against them. This policy dragged us to the type of operations that are attracted to the media, and we go to the streets from time to time for more possible noisy operations which follow the same direction.” Murtha has joined them in their effort to convince Americans that we should retreat.
The only way terrorists win is if we surrender.
And that is the tact Murtha is taking. One can imagine the ragged gangs of terrorist thugs and fanatical Islamacists huddling around their radios, anxious for news of their impending victory from their mouthpiece from America. Consider the imams gathering their bloody flock together to receive deadly inspiration from the brother embedded within the American congress. How they must thank Allah that when all seems to be turning against them, they still can count on a fool to shore up flagging spirits and sagging death counts. They can still win this war, all they need is John Murtha.
Ann Coulter ( God bless her ) is being attacked for saying that Murtha is an example of why soldiers fragged their commanders in Vietnam. I am having a hard time disagreeing with her sentiment though I cringe at the use of the term fragging. John Murtha, for all of his service to his country, has joined America’s enemies time and again to weaken our resolve and save them from certain defeat.
