Holy Land Foundation Trial: Muslim Brotherhood In America

356.jpgIn late July of this year the United States government put the Holy Land Foundation on trial for supporting and funding terrorists organizations, namely Hamas. There are 42 indictments, seven defendants (two have fled the country), and a well spring of evidence born of years of investigation. The seven defendants are unapologetic about supporting Islamic terror groups – that’s not how they see them, and ultimately it’s not what they’re about. They’re about working within America to prepare it for Islamic takeover. That sounds innocent enough.

The Holy Land Foundation trial in Dallas is wrapping up, but what it has uncovered ought to concern every American. This organization claims they only provide aid to Palestinians, but isn’t that enough for us to condemn them? The culture of Palestine is one of death and martyrdom, built on a foundation of hatred for Jews, and easily recruited for attacks against infidels. It’s a stark reminder of what the enemy looks like, and the Holy Land Foundation understands what America thinks of Hamas. But who do those at the HLF represent if not Hamas? The Muslim Brotherhood:

“The Ikhwan [The Muslim Brotherhood's name for itself] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

The trial has unveiled government evidence of the work of “destroying the Western civilization” by the Holy Land Foundation, namely videos of the members extolling their objectives and transcripts taken from secret recordings outlining their plans. The incredible reach they had and the amount of organization they have attained should send shock waves through our security agencies. They’re poer is in the influence they have on America through the use of seemingly innocuous Muslim charity and social groups, including student unions and political organizations.

“Al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood are working toward the same goal, but the Brotherhood is willing to work through it politically and take their time,” said Mr. Farah, the counterterrorism consultant. “They want an Islamic state. Does that mean they’re going to pick up a gun and start shooting at the [U.S.] president? No. They’re going to work the system.”

Which is what brings us to the well known Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). This seedy gang of rascals have been at their work obfuscating for Islamic extremism in America by appearing on radio and television pleading for tolerance while they dhimmify the population – but its a one way tolerance and a great example of how America’s own freedoms are used against it. For the purpose of radicalization, the commercial face of Islamic extremism is CAIR, which is why they’ve been labeled an un-indicted co-conspirator in the case. The charge stings, they say such a designation has hurt their fund raising goals and membership tallies. But the reach of the Council of Islamic Relations is widespread, and that’s a testament to how serious they are:

The Holy Land Foundation case is more than the government proving the foundation is a front organization for terror (lawyers for the defendants did not dispute the video and audio evidence presented by the government – instead appealing to juror’s distrust of government), it’s also about whether we can allow organizations to work from within our borders to overthrow our way of life. This is worse than the ACLU making a mockery of our freedoms – its Sharia law come to America. Any group that can’t bring itself to condemn Islamic terrorism ought to be viewed with the greatest suspicion. For all the predictable failures of our bureaucracy to deal with terrorism, these are the times when our security agencies can prove their worth in uncovering the enemies in our midst. The outcome of this trial is important for all Americans who value freedom.

EXTRA: Case goes to the jury: “Attached to the instructions was the 59-page verdict form, detailing the 197 individual decisions the jurors must unanimously make.”

EXTRA: Al-Ahram Weekly deplores attacks on Muslims in America: Six years after the terrorist attacks, American Muslims remain under siege with institutionalised profiling, discrimination, high publicity trials, raids on Muslim charities and the defaming of mainstream Muslim organisations.
