Poll: Obama Down To -19 On The Passion Index!

Written by: Uncle Seth The Noble on Sunday, December 13th, 2009

The passion index is the gap between those polled that strongly approve of the way the President is performing his job versus those that strongly disapprove. President Barack Obama, in the wake of his speech on the surge in Afghanistan, has hit an all time low in this poll for the past two consecutive days, which leaves some to wonder whether his hard core Left Wing anti-war base may be starting to sour on him. Considering he flanked Hillary in the primaries because of his bold anti-war stance, it wouldn’t be a great surprise to see some jumping off the bandwagon.

Here’s what Rasmussen found in his polling sample…

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 23% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -19.

Today is the second straight day that Obama’s Approval Index rating has fallen to a new low. Prior to the past two days, the Approval Index had never fallen below -15 during Obama’s time in office (see trends).

The 23% who Strongly Approve matches the lowest level of enthusiasm yet recorded. Just 41% of Democrats Strongly Approve while 69% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 21% Strongly Approve and 49% Strongly Disapprove.

Among those who consider the economy to be the most important issue, just 26% Strongly Approve of the President’s performance while 39% Strongly Disapprove.

Among those who consider fiscal policy issues the most important, just 1% Strongly Approve and 81% Strongly Disapprove.

The President’s Approval Index rating is -2 among voters under 30 and -29 among senior citizens. From an income perspective, the President’s ratings are weakest among those who earn $40,000 to $100,000 annually.

So it looks as if  Barack Obama has completely lost the middle class, which is not a news in itself because that is typically a Republican constituency, but the discrepancy may have just gotten a little wider. It’s the last thing a struggling President needs at anytime during his years in office. The big question is whether the rich are going to get over the guilt card placed on them by the Left and actually vote their own interests? In the last election a majority of those that made over $250,000 a year voted for the ‘Anointed One’, but now it appears that buyers remorse has set in considering that they are the primary targets of Barack Obama’s grand plans to tax Americans into oblivion.
