Jimmy Carter Meets Cheering Crowds – of Terrorists

There is a lot of news coming out about former president Jimmy Carter and his tour of the Middle East. I don’t think anyone would argue that two sides of any dispute should talk to one another if there is to be any chance of peace, but excusing murder by Palestinians as a gesture of desperation by otherwise peace loving people is pathetic. Mr. Carter wonders why he gets so much vitriol for trying to bring peace to the region – maybe its because his moral compass points in one direction and for no good reason other than his reactionary dislike of Jews. Check out this gem from an editorial in the Washington Post by a Palestinian leader:

In his editorial, [Gaza leader Mahmoud] Zahar said no peace plan can succeed “unless we are sitting at the negotiating table and without any preconditions.” But he said negotiations were not possible until Israel withdraws from the West Bank and dismantles settlements, then talks could be begin on the return of Palestinian refugees.

Do words mean anything to these people? This is like the prostitute crying rape after she gets paid. It’s time for Israel to fight for peace instead of feeding a brooding population on its borders.
