The Left Implodes
One has to wonder if the liberal crack up we’re seeing now is a sign of things to come. I believe it is. Let’s look at the flailing incomprehension that passed for political conversation this month from the left.
The senate not only failed to end the war, the war seems to be succeeding despite them. The Associated Press is reporting that Iraqi deaths have been cut in half, and the American death toll was 64, the lowest since July 2006. General Harry Reid stomped to the podium to remind us that “The war is lost” but no one was paying attention to him. Is it really a press conference if no one hears you? That’s a philosophical question, and better left to House leader Nancy Pelosi. When she was asked about the low approval ratings for the Democratic congress all she could come up with is that she’d give the congress poor ratings too. That’s the spirit, Nan!
But just when things were looking glum, MoveOn.org defames a sitting general during wartime, and Hillary can’t bring herself to condemn it. The general she confirmed just months ago she now disbelieves, and the rest of America wonders what the hell Democrats want when all they can do is slander the man they put in charge of the war they need Republicans to lose. The leftist organization that created the ad for the New York Times is a slovenly throng of aspiring union thugs, but they’re all rhetorical – and can’t we take a joke? It’s not about Be-tray-us (giggle!) or libeling the military – it’s about free speech! F**k Bush! When it comes to defending America, the Democratic congress would rather fund Jack Murtha’s defense lawyers, who found himself ordered to appear before a judge to explain his slandering of American Marines he called “cold blooded killers.” Word on the street is John Murtha will be carpooling with Cindy Sheehan over to the court house, since she’s earned a bench warrant herself. Now there’s a Polaroid I don’t ever want to see!
Thank God for the small things: the Clintonian cretins over at Media Matters figured they struck gold in their jihad against conservative media, but gold looks nothing like the steaming pile of stool they are offering. Rush Limbaugh waxed intolerant about the train of phony soldiers the left keeps shoving in front of the cameras to tell Americans just how bad we really are – only to find that through the bong smoke and the subsequent ringing in the ears they heard him say that any soldier who disagrees with his view of the war is a phony soldier. Listening to the audio of the show is an easy remedy to such charges even for those sodden with drink. But it isn’t about the truth, it’s about years of being called an unpatriotic boob for wanting to defund the troops and surrender in Iraq. It hurts to hear your friends at MoveOn.org take a beating when it’s obvious to everyone that conservatives hate the killitary too! Patriotism is not about defending America, it’s about uncovering every blemish she carries and defining her by them. Surely we can all agree on that!
It’s a long journey from here to November 2008 – and things could change drastically before then. Should America find itself, and its signature optimism, the Democrats are doomed. The only thing left for them then is to offer $5000 to every child on America soil, but that reeks of desperation, and no party worth our respect would ever resort to bribing us for our vote! At least not for a measly $5000 dollars!
